stanman : oil pressure

what oil psi numbers do you guys get with the 230? mine is always past 60 psi hot or cold using standard 5w30 it seems to run fine. is this a problem or not?

That WOULD be a problem.... suspect the gauge, and test accordingly. Methinks something is a bit off, maybe a ground problem.

My oil pressure typically runs around 30 psi. Like Taco said. Pull the sending unit and put another gauge in there to check.

My oil pressure gauge blew out about a year after I switched to 5W30....I happened to find the 120 psi gauge and sender out of a different mil truck that is otherwise just like ours...these were new parts not used...and I run 60-70 pounds on throttle...40 and higher at idle....this has been checked with a mechanical gauge....peaked at just over 70 pounds on the highway...

I should say though that I believe my old one blew, not due to the pressure but for some other reason...like maybe a short or sending unit problem as I was at idle, the gauge was not pegged...then there was an audible click and the gauge pegged full right for about 2 seconds maybe, then clicked again and dropped to 0 and didnt work again....

I would make sure and do the checks that were recommended above, the stock gauge setup does tend to have grounding issues and erratic display in many trucks....need to rule those issues out to be sure where you are...thus my use of the mechanical gauge to back up what the electrical gauge reads...
