Tire choice
Which do you guys think will be a better option for tires. I plan on doing around town driving, dirt roads, nothing to crazy.
Seating these on factory rims.
I found a new set of 9.00x16 SPECIALTY TIRES OF AMERICA STA MILITARY NDS x4 for $1098.17 shipped.
https://simpletire.com/specialty-tir...16-ln18e-tires
I also found a set of 9.00r16 Michelin xzl takeoffs with a dot date of 2006-2011 at 75%-90% tread x4 shipped for $1,030.37
My concerns are the dot date of 2006-2011 on the xzls. What do you guys think would be the better option here?

I think my XZL tires are dated 2001 or 2003. I was going down the road at Warp speed (52 mph) the other day just as smooth as can be. I have no visible cracking on the sidewalls yet.
If you do go with the XZL tires keep them pretty aired up. I had a set of XL tires on my Whistler M35 and one sidewall just ripped all the way from the bead to the tread. I only had 25 psi in there and a load on the bed. Others with those tires report the same thing. If the sidewall is flexing and you see cracks. Either air up or start buying new tires.
The new NDT tires are really tempting. Lighter, small, less rolling resistance, comparable off road when aired down and figure another 20 years of life left in them. What they don't give you is the rubber overdrive of 12% more speed that the Michelin tires do.

Thanks for the info Barrman. I think ive decided with the xzl but I think im going to wait until all the craziness to blow over before i commit to the purchase.

I would second the michelins....I think there are some for sale in the classifieds but shipping might be a killer

Agree on the xz tires. Mine are pretty bulletproof so far and haven't left me stuck in the mud or unable to get out of wherever I have ended up. I don't have a huge amount of time on them but they have been solid so far.
I got mine from a local eBay source, they buy from the bases in the area.
Colonial tire, hopefully it's ok to put their name up?
I got all 4 delivered for 950 or so and will be ordering two more so the new trailer matches when I can budget it.
I did find a brand new set on Craigslist for 800 after I got mine, keep your eyes open, they are out there.
