Speedo Cable Install

Anybody have any suggestions or tips on installation? It sure is a tight spot. I'm thinking I may have to remove the parking brake stuff to get to it. Dave

I you can use two screw drivers at the same time, it isn't that bad. Getting it off is easy. Going back on is a pain because of the cross thread chances. One screwdriver to turn the nut and the other to keep it straight and or push down. I did mine like 5 times one week replacing broken cables. I removed the stock speedo and put in an Auto Meter. I haven't had to visit that fun spot again.

Well for me ... I removed the cab. That made the changing of the cable EASY EASY EASY!!!! ;-)

I had my wife do it for me, her hands are a lot smaller.

I did mine when I still had the xfer case dropped. Still a pain in the butt as I have large hands.

My speedo cable was broken. I got the new one installed with some difficulty but it never would work. To this day, I'm not sure if it ever worked or I had been installing it wrong, or if the cable is incorrect. The speedo gear on my SM 420 was staring me in the face, so after 7 or 8 attempts at the T-case, the tranny hook up was used. BTW, it reads about 10 to 15 mph fast.
