distributor problem
My truck stopped running and after some checking I found that the weight springs in the distributor had broken. I have new springs now and they are different than the ones I took out. The new weight springs are different sizes. Does it make a difference to which weight they're attached? Also, has anyone had problems with the springs breaking? The distributor was put in new 1 year ago. This truck is all stock.

I have seen where they are so rusty that they are essentially solid and doing nothing...broken or frozen up, either way is not good.
Where did you get new springs? I dont know why they would be different...

Memphis Equipment. I called and verified they were correct. They told me the spring sets they now sell are also for the M37 distributor. I found an exploded view for the M37 and you can see the difference in spring size.

Wow...all this time I thought that the top part, above the shaft, of the distributor was the same between M37 and M715...I was under the impression that they if the shaft was swapped to the one needed for the vehicle in question...
Well...I dont know how much difference it will make...certainly different parts will make a difference but is it enough to affect performance or not??
Did Memphis say anything about the difference in the springs changing performance?.If they are selling them this way, hopefully, someone tried it and figured something out...
