np 205
Post by gimpyrobb on Aug 16, 2006, 8:38am
Last night I got the 366 out of my donor c60. After I get the trans and winch off it, I will be preping for the swap into the Kaiser. I am trying to line up a divorced 205. There is an 80 power wagon near me for 400.00. When did Dodge go to a married xcase? The owner doesn't know what I'm talking about and I'm short on time to go investigate. Thanks up-front.

I "think" it was around '77. But, I am not sure. Have him crawl under and look.

From some research it looks like it was a transition year and it could be a 205 or 208. I guess I'll have to make time to check. Anyone need parts from this truck?

An 80 most likely has a NP203 fulltime mated case. Divorced case stopped with the '75 model year.

Show him a pic of a 205 and ask him if it looks like that. Or have him send you a pic.

Eh, from the back 203s and 205s look pretty similar, but from the front you can easy spot the huge gearbox on the front of the 203.

Even easier to spot the 3rd drive shaft of a divorced unit.

The 203 also has an enormous differential bolted to the back of it.
