I know it's not much yet but my bed liner turned out awesome. The CUCV axles are in but I didnt take any pics. D70 & D60 w Detroit locker. Went with the duale axles to push the WWS out to run the 24 bolt HMMVW wheels w/ double bead lock inserts.

Mating the LS1 to the sm465 and np205. FYI NO adapter necessary to mate the SM465 to the LS1. LS flywheel, 12" plate, and a LS7 pilot bearing to compensate for the LS crank offset from typical 350. Standard manual bellhousing.

All mocked up and sitting on the new engine and tranny Mount locations. Had computer reprogrammed so it knows its not a 2001 Corvette .... LOL
Borgeson steering conversion. Followed instructions on this board. Ordered the very part numbers recommended from the site. Dead on.

SM465/NP205 slid right in with new cross brace. Also got the Grant steering wheel part numbers from this board especially the correct adapter part #. And again dead on. If you look close you can see the TAC module and fly-by-wire gas pedal sitting on the drivers floor ready to get mounted up.

BTW - I got my Axles from Hillbilly Wizard & wheels from Trailworthy Fab. Hillbilly provided me a pair of 4-wheel disk brake 4.56 axles (D60/D70) with Detroit locker. WMS to WMS was set at 77". Stock was 72"5 & 73.5" so I pushed the axles out roughly 2" on each side.

So here is a discovery I haven't seen posted here before. I finally feel that I'm giving back instead of taking from this board. LOL
The stock PTO for the winch that bolts to the driver's side of the T98 ALSO is the correct PTO for the Chevy SM465!!! Gears mesh and everything. Backlashing appears correct. So far so good. So in the picture what you see is a Corvette LS1/SM465/NP205 combo WITH the stock PTO and winch setup. Cool huh? Forgive the fuzzy pictures.
That is going to be one fine machine when you are done. Great pictures. I appreciate the engine choice. It will make very awesome power and get good mileage doing it. Looking forward to more!
Hydroboost goin' in ......
Heck of a deal on the PTO working out...that is soooo cool!!
Looks great! Thanks for the posts and the inspiration!
Staging all done. Working on undercoating.
Bed Lined the engine bay. Goes t the paint shop on Apr 1st. Need to get it all put back together before then!
I know its a bad picture .... but this is where I ended up putting the Tach.
View in Firefox until site issue is resolved. Very crappy video from old cell phone, just enjoy it for the sound. But I'm excited. Corvette LS1 in an M715!! IT'S ALIVE!!!

That is really something. I went back and looked, what color are you doing? Your paint before all this work looked pretty good. It will be stunning after the paint booth. I took a good look at the seat. It is done really nice. One of my tops would not be worthy of your truck. Maybe some day they will be. But not now. Your truck is perfect.
Color is called pepper grey. It will have dark charcoal accents. Bumpers, interior trim, etc. Everything will be with Matt finish kinda like this bronco. Maybe a touch lighter like the mustang.

Very impressive! Can't wait to see it painted.

the green looked very nice.
I dig the grey. I have seen a few M715s this color and they look mean!

I like the gray! What are you planning to do for the canvas top? Mine doesn't have the stock bow frame. Just a sketchy roll bar

Progressing very nicely. Can I ask what made you decide to go with the sm465 and np205 over the stock set up? I see others here doing the same combo and I'm beginning to wounder if my plan to retain the stock t98 an np200 may not a be the best idea?
NP200 & T98 were never intended to run extended modern highway speeds. This is a 45MPH truck in stock form.
NP200 will overheat at extended highway speeds ... especially where it is already hot, like down here in Florida. This is why Memphis Equipment puts oil coolers on the NP200 on M715 rebuilds. And it is loud. Not so bad if you relocate the drive shaft to the center output. But it will still sing at speed. NP205 was engineered for highway speeds and was in MANY a truck in the 70s and 80s.
I picked the SM465 because it has the granny first gear. And was cheap as crap. I got both the tranny and xfercase for $400. Both are as simple as it gets if you need to rebuild and parts are readily available at the parts store. Even with the 4.56 gearing I can have my cake an eat it to. Highway speeds AND a low LOW 1st gear for stump pulling LOL. I had a '84 Dodge 3/4 ton powerwagon with a granny and you never used it unless hauling. Manual even said start in 2nd. Loved that truck.
So basically I wanted and old school granny drivetrain with a modern engine. Thus the LS1/SM465/NP205 combo. Others will tell you I could have done this that or the other thing. But this works and is easy AS HELL to plug together. NO ADAPTERS! Standard 350 bellhousing and an LS7 pilot bearing. DONE.
There is something to be said for carefree driving an M715 down the highway to your local parts store for parts while towing a heavy trailer.
BTW - I'm tickled s--tless how badazz those hummer wheels turned out. Hillybilly Wizard and Trail Worthy Fab did outstanding work pairing the two. The ONLY DOT legal double beadlock. I can airdown to zero on the beach and right back up for the drive home!
On the tcase, yeah, stock they are loud and get hot...but, at least when I did it, moving the rear driveshaft to the drivers side flange on the case from the passenger side eliminated the whine at speed up to 60...didnt run it faster than that...
