Hi guys, a query, my truck was running well at 24 volts, but now the alternator is very hot, very hot, smells paint burned on the body by the temperature.
Anyone know what causes such a high temperature?
Thanks for the help.

Check to make sure the bearings are not going bad in it. Take the belt off and spin it by hand. If it's difficult to spin or doesn't roll smoothly, then the bearings are going bad which will cause them to get hot.
That would be my first and second guess...
If you have a working voltmeter, check the output and see if it is off weirdly...the output on the stock alternator is adjustable if it is way off somehow...
we have reviewed everything and we did not find the problem
Might simple be an insulation/winding/resistance issue. That would cause heat. You will need to replace the alternator.
