reverse lights
who has a concept for reverse lights? my plan is to install gama goat style stop lights because they have the same conical shape as the typical rear stop light but provide more visiblity. however with these there is no clear lens-its all red. my bumper has about a 2" diameter hole just inboard of the stop light mount on both sides and i thought about adding something there. just not sure what that something should be? i checked saturn surplus but didnt see something that small...just want it to look like it really belongs there. anyone pondered this one yet?

Sounds like the holes for the trailer plug and the blackout light wires. Are you thinking light for you to see where you're backing or for others to see your intent?

I think thats a great idea, put some kind of small spotlight, say 1000 candle power (haha) for rearward vision in reverse. Not "tactical" per se' -but effective.
Seriously if you figure something out, post some pics...

im talking about reverse indicator lights. I drive my truck nearly every day, which means i need to comply with the rules of the road. sortof.

Use tractor flood lamps. They are about the same size as the GamaGoat lenses, but have a nice rubber housing with a PAR-36 bulb. They run about $12 at parts stores and cast a nice wide beam pattern. Very visible and useful.

The T-98 and all but the 1968 sm420's don't have the reverse light switch on the tranny. If you have a newer Tranny, you'll be good. If not, an idea I had a while back was to buy a shifter knob from summit that has the switch for NOS or whatever, and using this witch to activate the brke lights. I decided to not however, since I would need an indicator on the dash to remind my dumb-butt if the lights were on or off. Instead, I'm using the switch for the horn until I can get the correct button setup working.

Get one of those switches that has a light in it and comes on when the switch is on....

Jon, didn't you post a pic of somebody who rigged up a reverse light switch on a T-98?

Go to www.trucklite.com they have all sorts of neat lights. I will probably get something from them for backup, underhood, and in cab lighting.

Here is the stock right rear light and the black out brake light.

I got some lights that are military, but I don't know what from. They are the same "bucket" as the stock M715 marker lights, but have a clear lense and only 2 of the 3 light sockets have wires and bulbs. I used the hole in the rear frame between the pintle and the left Buperette. I then wired it into my NV4500 reverse switch and used a relay so I can turn it on by itself it I want.
This is the best picture I have of it here at work.
