warthog : Pintle hook
Pintle hook
Post by warthog on Aug 31, 2006, 9:00am
What is the handling capacity or I guess the pulling capacity of the Pintle hook? I haven't been able to find any specs in the manuals. I'm just tryin to figure if it would be a viable means to use as a rear pull point in the event of being stuck. As in do I want to build a setup to pull/be pulled from or will the pintle suffice. Mine is missing and I would need to get one if it is cabable. Would prefer to do Pintle.
It'll be heavier than stock. Frame & body are the only components remaining stock. 427T, 3053a, NP205, Rockwells, 44 Boggers. It's still a frame w/ engine in the driveway. (Building simular to Tom's).
Thanks for any input,
Dan

The pintle, according to the specs in the Project Managers Manual, is rated at 18,000 pounds.

I snap cedar trees out of the ground with my pintle hook. I would worry more about what you are hooked up to than your own rear pintle hook.

I knew Pintle's were strong and that sounds strong enough. Tks.
