I have an oil leak from the front of the head gasket. I am going to pull the motor this winter and repair it. Where can I get a head set for it. Not sure if I can get it down town or not.

try to google: vintage automotive gaskets or best gaskets I think the part # is 649 g.
VPW or Memphis should hae that...AB Linn might...and if he does, would have the lowest price.
NAPA still lists it for the civvy 230. I think the head gasket is the same. It is NAPA FPG 8169PT or FPG HS8169PT2 for a "head gasket set". They also list several full engine gasket kits. Some gaskets in these kits will not fit but most will. They include FPG FS8169PT4
Someone with more knowledge can confirm if these items fit.
The civvy head gasket is NOT the same...though it may work...the mil head is straight on the front edges where it intersects the timing cover...the civvy head, which uses a wider timing cover, has triangular stickouts on both the front edges to fill in the extra space...
Maybe you can trim off the traingles and be good to go...
surplus city has the eng gasket sets NOS though , I just used one on mine an the water pump gasket was usless but the rest worked.
How can I get in touch with surplus city?
