Thread: M725 Ambulance sliding door.

    Default M725 Ambulance sliding door.

I have an M725 Ambulance and the sliding door between the back and the driving compartment is made of furniture-grade plywood. I have an early VIN/SN vehicle. Does anyone know if it could it have come from the factory that way as a temporary fix? Or, is plywood how they were made?

If the factory-installed door is supposed to be metal, I will need to find one some day.

    Thanks in advance,

If my memory serves me right... back in the 70s when I was a medic and drove one of these, i remember them being plywood.

It is plywood. In a about a month I will be cutting out a couple. I will be using the one I got a template. I have all the hardware except one metal c strip down one side. I will post pics when I get it done.

I'll be interested to see what you do. I'm looking for the hardware to make a door for mine too.

When I was missing a handle on the sliding door on mine, I had talked with Tripp from Memphis Equipment at one of the shows and he said they some doors that they would part out, and to call him when he got back and he would go pull it for me. Luckily I found one that was very similar and I was able to make work at the show and didn't follow up, but I'm sure they would still have some.
