Thread: for those that have added hydraulic clutches

Question for those that have added hydraulic clutches

The NV4500 that I have has a hydraulic clutch and I was wondering if anyone had incorporated a hydraulic clutch onto their rig while using the original pedals? If I need to change them out I will but I feel that this may be easier to use the originals. Space is limited on the firewall since there's a wagoneer vacuum booster and I want to keep the master cylinder away from the exhaust as much as possible. Pictures would be greatly appreciated as well as suggestions. Thanks!

I have done 3 of them now. I used a Chevy master and slave with the hose from a 1995 truck. That one requires a pair of holes drilled to mount the master cylinder to the firewall. Both work good.

The other one we used a Dodge 12 valve era master and slave. It has a few tangs on the master that require a bigger hole in the firewall and a few notches filed for the tangs. I like the dodge version better.

All 3 were hooked to the stock pedal by a piece of flat steel with a bolt in the pedal hole and a bolt in the master pushrod tying it all together.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

You don't happen to have any pictures do you? I can find some but a lot seem to be missing. wouldn't the metal bar rotate between the pedal and pushrod? Kind of kinking?

I used a Ford ZF master with OEM pedals and had to space it out a bit...

I like those brackets. That would be better than the extensions I made up.

I have two CTD NV4500s. I use a brake master cylinder from a '63 Wagoneer in both, with the stock pedal, and it works very well.

has anyone used it while using a vacuum assisted brake booster? It looks like it will be suuuper tight.
