Are these trucks street legal in Washington state?

    Hi folks,
I saw one of these a few weeks ago. I believe it is a 1968. Cant these trucks be legally registered in Washington State?
Do I need to make modifications?

Yes. Tim(Binfordm715) may chime in and know more about that state.

Usually inspection by the local highway patrol. Might need to be weighed. Must have proper turn signal indicators and all that jazz.

WSP doesn't even do inspections anymore. I had a Montana title for mine that listed it as a J-truck. The DOL lady asked me what the truck was and I told her it was a Kaiser M715, and that's what she put on the WA title. No one asked to see it or anything and just took me at my word as to what it actually was, what the vehicle weight was, etc. YMMV, though....

As for being street legal, as long as it has equipment it had originally, you're fine in WA so far as I know. If no seatbelts came stock, then no seatbelts required. Same with the license plate light for the rear. These things never even came with plates, for crying out loud!

Todd and Amphi, did you have any trouble registering your 715s?

Hey, Frank.... Where abouts are you?

Thanks for the replies. I just don't want to buy the thing and then be unable to use it. I want to use it as a daily driver. Would appreciate all the info and advice. I'm in Seattle.

Yeah, the first piece of advice would probably be to think long and hard before making one of these a daily driver!

In all seriousness, I'd make sure I had a backup vehicle, especially if we're talking about a stock M715. A cheap little Honda or whatever (sorry MarknessMonster....but you really didn't think I'd recommend a Chevette, did you?!) would be great for the days some obscure part breaks and you spend the next week tracking a new one down.
