Thread: looking for softer ride

  1. #1

    Default looking for softer ride

How many of y'all have taken out leaves to soften your suspension? How many did you pull and did it help? I am needing to soften mine and hope to get my truck to set a little lower but don't want to get into axle wrap problems.

Any problems with wrapping or excessive leaning in corners?

In the past, people have reported that removing more than 2 leafs has caused spring wrap...this is with a stock to a little modified 350...nothing "built". With a 300-6, at least one member has reported removing 3 and not having spring wrap.

On my 725, I only cut out one spring. I was just posting what I heard others have done.

    That was awesome Bob....

Now to something that contributes to this thread:

When I seperated my spring packs and coated them wih Slip Plate I also removed 1 leaf from each pack. I felt an improved ride on the road and it won't lean at all around corners. Doing very untechnical tests of driving up some big stumps on my property before and after removing a leaf, I have further suspension drop but I still hit the bump stops on the high side.

I said there was an "improvement" in the ride over stock, but it is still rougher than heck on bumps and gravel roads. I'm going to run my rig for a while, but I'm thinking about pulling 1 more leaf per pack one of these days to see what happens.

Not to jack the thread, but if you do pull another leaf, post up and let us know how the slip plate paint looks.
