New member..questions.

Been looking for a truck, finally found one. Whats some good points to ask and what do I look for.

What I do know..

Original motor/tranny/xfer
no tail gate.
needs a top.
it is a winch truck.
it runs and drives.
windshield bad side glass good.
minimal rust.

Been reading here for a while sounds like familiar items, but i need help.

I am going through the same thing right now. There is one in GA I am gathering information on. Check out the thread I started and I will watch yours and maybe we can learn together.

We have a member in Northern Alabama, Redneck 1, trying to sell his two M715 trucks. You guys might want to PM him and see if he still has them. He has spare engines and parts too.

Not trying to sound rude, but pictures really do help us out when trying to diagnos a truck from the computer.

If I were looking for a truck with which I wasn't too familiar, I'd learn all the stock specifications in order to avoid not identifying potential "hack" modifications. I'd then discover information about the availability of certain crucial parts. I'd also be curious about where on the body the truck is most susceptible to rust, so I could look closely at these areas. These items would help one make a more educated decision on the purchase.
