    Default Titling my 715

I bought a m-715 that was origanally used by the Army and then by the "Pine Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept" some where (Still painted on the doors). I called the Wisconsin DMV to find out how to get it titled and the wonderful lady told me it can't be titled. She then called me back and told me if it has a Vehicle Certification Label (not a vin number) (which it doesn't) that I have to take a picture of it and send it in with a MV One form.

    Help?????????????

I just used the serial number of the truck. I brought in the data plate to DMV. They took a copy of it and just registered it as a 2 door sedan. I have no idea why, I have commercial plates. But I dont want to argue with people who know their jobs better than I do. ( This is in New York state. I dont know how things work elsewhere)

Mine is titled...and its in Wisconsin.

What year is yours...that does make a difference to the clowns in Madison.

I would bet it was titled before and they can look it up...the vin should be on the data plate on the dash, 5 digits...wouldnt be surprised to find out the vin starts with 13xxx or 14xxx...many of the Wisconsin trucks are in that range...including mine.

One thing that seems to be a constant, is the fact that all the DMV computers don't recognize a VIN less than 17 digits. Nevermind that that wasn't a constant until 1980, but still its always a problem.

Didnt bat an eye here with a 5 digt vin. Biggest problem here is that if its 1968 and newer, it MUST conform to the Highway Safety Act of 1966 which went into effect Jan. 1, 1968.
A stock M715 doesnt meet the regs due to, among other things:
    Must have dual circuit brakes.
    Must have a padded dash.
    Must have seat belts.

The seat belts and brake stuff isnt too hard...the padded dash...have fun.
    There is more stuff...

Mine, being a 1967, EVEN THOUGH it is the same truck as the 1968-69 ones, is exempt from meeting this spec.

I personally think it is moronically shortsighted and someones political head in rear policy.

    Default DMV titling

I found that the DMV guys and gals here in Stevens Point Wisconsin enjoy doing something out of the ordinary. Just get to the office when it opens before they get tired of dealing with all the ya-hoos all day. Obviously have all your documentation ready, and having the vehicle there is a plus......

Wisconsin is trying to ban all former military vehicles from the roads (you can read all about over on the G503 site) ,so just a word of caution ,if you haven't mentioned that ,I would avoid mentioning it. There are some lawyers working on the situation. They have met with the officals several times and the MVPA is watching with interest also.

Good luck with your titling and let us know how it turns out. I have 3 MVs to get registered.
