Thread: U-joint size?

    Default U-joint size?

Our stock u-joints are 1310 right? And I need 1350 for my Dodge divorced NP205? Or is it 1330? I have managed to confuse myself. How can I measure to find out?

Before I buy the conversion u-joints, I want to make sure I have it right.

Heres the specs you need so you can measure:

    I am sure the M715's ar 1310...I think the NP205 uses 1350...

I would suggest getting 1310 yokes at NW driveline, they had them in stock when I got mine a couple years ago they were pretty reasonable I think, I dunno when you need them you need them.

You recommend that over the conversion u-joints? The cost for the yokes is substantial. Would eventually like to have 1410 all around. Was kinda just looking to "get by" for awhile.

I didn't think they made conversion joints, that would definitly be a good lesser expensive option, I wanted to keep mine all U-bolt, definitly upgrade the differential side when you can.

Yes they make a conversion joint, it is spicer # 5-353X. I am using one of those joints to go from the Dodge transmission yoke, to spicer 1310 (what came stock in our trucks). I can't remember exactly how much they were, but it was under $15 if I recall. That is only if your Dodge NP205 truly is running a Dodge style joint (7260 or 7290), there is a possibility it is a 1310. There is a pretty big difference between a spicer and dodge joint though, they don't look the same.

It would be nice to have everything match, but if you want to go to 1410 later, then I would definately just throw a conversion joint in there for right now. There is nothing wrong with a conversion joint, they aren't weaker than a regular joint, per say. I plan on running the conversion joint in my rig for quite a while.

That would have saved me some money for sure, I think I paid about $45.00 a piece for the yokes, one usually gets new u-joints on a build anyway. I ran 1310's all around except where it exits the gearvendors, it's a 1410.

I have all the driveline yokes and one of the t-case yokes in the car. Gonna run up to the driveline shop today to see what I need. I have managed to really confuse myself as to what I need

Did you get the t case installed? Maybe you can have it finished up for this weekend?
