    Default Scroll Bars on some screens?

    Scroll Bars on some screens?

    I get a wide screen with horizontal scroll bars when logged in and viewing "Online Maintenance Manuals", "Galleries", "Vintage Power Wagons Price List", and "Links" pages. This does not happen on the "Forums" and "Galleries" pages.

    Using IE 6.0 at a screen resolution 1152 X 864.

    The only difference I see, in this area of the source code, is the two commented-out lines of code below:

    --src="/vb/images/heavy_metal/hm/heavymetal_splashleft01.jpg" width="442" height="127"></a></td>

    --background="/vb/images/heavy_metal/hm/heavymetal_splashcenter01.jpg" >&nbsp;</td>

    If I understand the information presented in the article linked below, the double-dash "--" is a switch between allowing the ">" as text in a comment line or treating the ">" as an End Comment delimiter.

    I believe this line of code below is being ignored and considered a part of the comment line above it because the comment line terminator ">" is considered text.

    <td width="100%" height="127"

    Each time a double dash is encountered, it changes the format between allowing, and not allowing the > characters to be inside the comment:

    Sorry guys I really don't look for this stuff – it just jumps out at me when paging around for other reasons.

    No big deal just another observation and FYI.

    I removed those lines of code.

    Not yet!

    This works no scroll:

    <!-- logo -->
    <a name="top"></a>
    <div align="center">
    <center>
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
    <tr>
    <td><a href="/" target="_self"><img border="0"
    src="http://m715zone.com/flaglogo.jpg"></a></td>
    <td width="100%" height="127"
    background="/vb/images/heavy_metal/hm/3truck_banner.jpg"
    >&nbsp;</td>

    </tr>
    </table>
    </center>

    This scrolls:

    <!-- logo -->
    <!-- content table -->

    <!-- logo -->
    <a name="top"></a>
    <div align="center">
    <center>
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
    <tr>
    <td><a href="/" target="_self"><img border="0"
    src="http://m715zone.com/flaglogo.jpg" width="442" height="127"></a>
    </td>

    <td width="100%" height="127"
    background="/vb/images/heavy_metal/hm/3truck_banner.jpg">
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
    <tr>
    <td><center><img src="/vb/images/10years.jpg" width="339" height"125" align="center"></center>
    </td>
    </tr>

    </table>
    </center>

    It was setup so that I had to reduce the screen width all the way down to where I started to get iside the margings of the flag logo to get a horizontal scroll bar...like 200-300 pixels.

    Now, the flag logo is larger and the 3 truck banner is doubled in the vertical direction...see image:

    Still scrolling and I did a reload to make sure it is not cached.

    Might be this line

    src="http://m715zone.com/flaglogo.jpg" width="442" height="127"></a></td>

    The one that doesn't not scroll has this:

    src="http://m715zone.com/flaglogo.jpg"></a></td>
