Default novak sbc vs advance sbc adapter one better??

the novak and advance small block chevy adapter has a second 3 inch thick plate adapter to allow for the 10 1/4 inch input shaft from the t-98 trans and advance also offers a second adpater that comes with a 7.75 inch input shaft with 17 teeth gear to change out the t-98 trans 10 1/4 inch shaft . my thoughts are which is better the novak allows the chevy engine to move forward away from the firewall for more distributor clearance but does this change the clutch linkage . the advance adapter has the 7. 75 inch input shaft to change out the 10 1/4 inch input shaft but does this change the clutch linkage . also the novak calls for a 4 11/16 inch ring vs a 5 1/2 ring for the chevy bellhousing what is this ring for exactlly . so does the adapter from novak and advance that has he second 3 inch plate allow the clutch linkage to stay in the same place with new new chevy bell housing or does the advance adapter with the 7 3/4 replace input shaft allow the clutch linkage to stay the same with the chevy bell housing ???
