Thread: King Size Bed

    Question King Size Bed

Hello, i was wondering if anyone has an estimate on who heavy these M715 Beds are? I removed the front fenders and cab witch was straight forward, now i need to get the bed off. Was thinking of using an engine hoist when i get it back from a buddy of mine, so I really havent had a chance to see if it works or not. Or i was going to send a big chain over an even bigger tree branch and hook it to my tractor and lift it off that way. Anyone out there any other ideas or procedures? Once i get it off im sending out to be media blasted and rhino lined.

4 people can easily lift one.

Don't use the lifting hookes, tie straps and an engine hoist. The lifting eyes will bend in. Either hook underneath the outter edge or run pipe through the lifting eyes and then attach your straps.

Removing the tail gate makes it lighter and offers less stuff to get dented by the cylinder on the hoist.

This isn't a M715 bed, but you can get the idea of how an engine hoist will work:

My method was to use an engine hoist to hold up the rear. My older son and I picked up the front while my younger son drove the truck out from underneath it. You'll have to rig up a gas can to do this, since the tank was removed first.

I used a car lift and attached the bed's rings to the lift's arms, lifted and rolled the frame out. Lowered the bed onto a trailer. Took two wooden blocks to level the bed due to the tool box.

I had my body guy use a Raptor bed lining kit - runs about $125 through paint distributors - works great.

We used black for the bottom of the cab and a tintable version - tinted to the 24087 OD green for the inside of the bed and the cab.
