    Default engine serial numbers

I would like to know where the serial numbers on the stock motor are located .
Do they match frame numbers and or Vin numbers.
I'm trying to figure out is the motor in my truck the original.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    From the -10 Operators Manual:

The engine code number is stamped on the lower right front of the cylinder block just behind the ignitor.

I remember the compression ratio is at the end and the month/year it was made is at the beginning...there is a build number or sequence number in between the 2 but I have no way to decode that.

The truck vin/serial number is NOT on the motor anywhere from the factory.

My engine has a tag on the right side of the block down between the motor mount and the timing cover. It says it was rebuilt at Red River Army Depot in Texas and lists the oversizes for the crank, rods and bore. It also has a serial number listed.

Rebuild tags can be in several places...but they dop give good info on what was done internally...
