    Default Tie Rod ends

Had the truck in for the annual safety inspection and the mechanic found my passenger side tie rod end was pretty wore out. What is the best place to pick one up?

If they still have them, the cheapest is to buy the whole tie rod bar from VPW in Iowa...shipping might bite you though...but you get 2 ends, and the bar, for the price of one end in the parts stores...

Civvy parts stores can cross these numbers:
Moog p/n's: ES235R ES235L (right and left thread).
They aren't cheap--$80 range at parts stores.

I had to replace one end on the drag link. I used the Moog number listed above and it worked perfect.

Also South Eastern Equipment in Augusta / GA still has some, about 60 $ each. In my truck they are still original. I simply grease them on regular bases which means after every tour over 300 miles, at least once a year. That helps!

What about the grease boots that fit atop each joint? Are they available separately? Where would I find new one's, mine are all shot and falling out.

To my knowledge they are not available seperately. I tryed to get some but everybody told me they are part of the tie rod ends. I also found no siutable replacments from makers of these parts. And I have a lot of catalouges of this stuf. May be DANA is willing to give you the source of the rubbers. In Europe they do not. Or they do not have them any more! Too old!

Have a question along these lines... all of my steering gear is in the warehouse. Are the tie rod ends threaded the same? Right, left threaded, mixed?? I need to replace all of them - the front end is shot.

    Thanks,
    Snuffy

Anyone pulled these to replace them???? Jester??

Added note - may be able to get new 'rubber' grease boots from Prothane or Energy Suspension.
