    Default 68 m715/89 f350 build thread

Well i figured while i have some down time waiting to pull the last 8 bolts holding the engine and tranny in till i can get a bigger excavator here to yank it all out as one assembly i figured it would be a good time to ask some questions.

For those of you that dont know i am taking my 89 f350 4x4 diesel five speed and putting it into my 68 m715...

The stuff that follows are related to this swap

Im grabbing all of the pedal assembly's and master cylinder's etc etc as well as the entire shifters and related hardware support brackets etc etc.

For the axles i am grabbing the parking brake pedal assembly and tensioners u bolts etc etc

So what am i forgetting to snag off the donor truck?

Fuel pump/sending unit for the 12V stuff. I doubt you're keeping it 24V.

Brake master cylinder and booster maybe?

I'd cut off any frame mounts for the engine and trans.

Any electrics specific to the 7.3, like the glow plug controller.

Personally, I'd just keep the truck around until I finished the swap. I always seem to find something I need after I send one to the scrapper. Better to have it around to the end.

You're going to need to get the NAPA fuel sending unit and matching gauge then, if you go 12V. The 24V stuff won't work with 12V and there isn't any way to convert it.

What about making the stock speedometer working with the bw1356 transfer case? It is cable driven..

ou're going to need to get the NAPA fuel sending unit and matching gauge then
    What is that? Part numbers?

Am i going to be able to make the stock gauges work in their stock locations?

    Yes i want everything 12v

The part #501-1742 and has the sending unit (tank) plus the gauge (dash) included for 12V...available at Napa.

The part number Jon posted is correct. It is a universal sending unit that will fit the stock tank perfectly, and the gauge that comes with it fits the stock 2-5/8" hole in the dash.

You'll also need a mechanical temp gauge, or at least an electric 12V one, and of course a 12V charging gauge. The oil pressure gauge in the stock truck was electric and also 24V, so you'll need one of those too. No way to make the 24V stuff work on 12V that I am aware of.

    Here's one post I did:

I used the Napa universal sending unit with Isspro gauges, look close to stock. Works great. When will you be around? I need a place to drive my truck to.
