    Default 4.56 gears

Does anyone have part numbers for 4.56 gears for front and rear axles? You can install them without changing carriers right?

yes you can install them without changing carriers. i just finished mine about a week ago...

randys ring and pinion have them in stock.
the front is just a dana 60 4.56 ring and pinion

the rear is a dana 70 1/2 offset ring a pinion... make sure you get the half inch off set ones otherwise they won't fit. i just went through buying the wrong ones and sending them back for the right ones...

Wonder if there are other ratios with that 1/2 offset. I know Saxon was able to find some awhile ago - 4.88s I think. May be NLA.

There used to be 4.88 and 5.13...I know the 5.13's ran out back in the 90's...hopefully the others are around still...

    no problem.
had all the info very handy.

also the new pinion shaft is a fine spline where the yoke attaches to. so you will need a new yoke with the fine splines. the stock pinion has course spline and you need that fine spline yoke to pretty much start the over haul. since you have to set pinion depth and preload before you can set the backlash and carrier preload.

also the dana70 ring and pinion come with a carrier bearing and pinon nut and some marking compound. so don't bother getting the master overhaul kit unless your carrier bearings are in ty condition. mine where in outstanding condition untill i tried to remove them the wrong way. ahah..

and the dana 60 master overhaul kit has the wrong inner axle tube seals.. so it is kind of a waste too. unless you need those carrier bearings. ..

might save you like $400 to check the condition of the bearings first.

Is yoke replacement required for the front and rear ring and pinion or only the front?

for mine it was the rear. that i had to replace the yoke.

i think the front was replaced before i had bought the truck.

but i bought 2 anyways. so i have an extra if you want to buy it from me.
but you can take the pinion nut off and pull the yokes and check if there are like 10 splines (course) on the pinion then you need to buy the 29 spline (fine) yoke for the 4.56 gears. (front and rear yokes are the same.)

if you plan on doing it yourself and run into any issues or have any questions on what you will need let me know i just did mine my self over the weekend its pretty easy...
