I measured Al's (kaiserjeeps) a while back and it was 38" from tip to the top of the handle. He said he picked it up at Ace Hardware, but none they seem to offer now are under 42" or so.

Tim, do you remember how much the metal shovel head stuck out off the bedside? (not refferring to the handle)

What the hell is that supposed to mean, Socal?!
Oh, you mean how far does the shovel head protrude from the side of the bed. Okay.... Let me see if I can find a pic of that for ya. Stand by.....

I just measured a couple T-handle shovels I have out in the shed. One that is short enough to fit on my M715, but has a plastic handle ( ) sticks out 3-1/2" and another that is too long to fit sticks out 4-3/4". So depending on how the shovel you go with is made, it ought to be about in there. Does that help?
Is this going to help my Karma count? (What is that anyway?)

Thanks for all the info dude... you da man. 3.5" may be too wide to slide behind the spare..... we'll see.
I'll hit your karma for you now.

Probably not hard at all to put your own on. My axe mount is broken off, so I'll have to have a new one welded on. Get some measurements of the brackets, footmen loops and their placements, make some up and tack them on.
