The local tire guy is saying 44.31 per radial tube and 11.08 per radial flap for 11.00R16. Do these proces sound right? Does anyone know where to get them cheaper?

Me too. Five tubes (no flaps) were right about $100, so your price sounds just right. And Rusty knows exactly what our trucks need, so he's a good one to talk with!

Me three. Just about the same as the Tim above but with tax because I am in Texas.

I got a set up XL's still in my garage, been calling around for someone to put them on my split rims and it seems like between the price of that and tubes I might as well have some custom steel rims made up and mounted at the local garage. Does this seem like a cheaper option?

not cheaper now, but in the long run... after you replace a couple of tubes down the road (and that'll be DIY, cause you'll be stuck in some podunk town whose best tire place is Walmart and they won't touch the splits, nor have a tube to fit).

I had my 5 XLs mounted on split rims after they dismounted the old NTDs and the total was under $100 for the whole deal. (I had them sipe 4 of them, for $15 a piece too, so I'm just guestimating the price for dismount/mount.)
Any tire store that can do heavy truck tires can do ours. They just need a cage in which to inflate them. Call around and you'll find a place. It'll be reasonable.

I broke down and brought mine to a shop, and hell my arms and legs still work. I delfated one and couldn't break the bead with a hi-lift under the bumper. The tires were like siezed or rusted onto the rims. Big tire shop around here did them for me for 40 bucks a piece and chucked the dry rotted crap tires for me too.
