Cowl Seal Report

I got a new windshield to cowl molding from Memphis a week or so ago. My old one was cracked, shrunk, missing pieces and painted white on the outsides. It needed to go. I was amazed at how much my old one had shrunk though.

I had my windshield latches adjusted down as far as they would go and my windshield still thunk thunked on any surface. With the new seal, I had to adjust the catches almost all the way up and setting the latches is now a two hand job compared to the old flick of the wrist.

Even with the latches as tight as I could get it, my hard top wouldn't fit back on. The winshield was about 2 inches further forward at the top than before. Thankfully, I had seen Kwai's solution to the exact same situation at the Texas FE. I did what he did. 1" tie down strap between the footman loop on top of the windshield to the footman loop above the battery box on the back of the cab and then cranked away as tight as I could get it.

Just thought I would pass this on to others going through the same thing.
