Default Air Cleaner Installation help needed...

I feel really silly asking this but what's the trick to get a stock air cleaner mounted on the carb w/gasket. I can't get the thing to sit flat and clamp on. Seems like one of the valve cover clamp/bracket is in the way. Do I need to file on it a bit or just take a valium next time I try. Thanks! Ken

    Default Air cleaner.

Take a valium and then flip the air cleaner over and make sure the round clamp is open enough to go over the air horn, then slipped it over the air horn and tighten, it should set straight.

    Agreed.

Maybe the clamp is crooked on the bottom of the air can?

It really helped when I opened/streched the clamp all the way as Beltfed suggested. I then noticed a set of ridges for the clamp to ride in on the filter assembly. The clamp was on the outside of these. It also helped to take the lid off to see how it sat on the carb. Thanks guys! Now to figure out the vacuum lines.

If you buy the air filter upgrade kit from Memphis equipment, it comes with everything you need, including new super duty vacuum lines, and clamps. It comes with diagrams from different angles and also photos showing how everything is placed. Even I got it right! (idiot proof). The vacuum lines I had from the hardware store collapsed, flattened out, what a rip off
