    Default gas tank drain

I removed the drain plug on my gas tank to get rid of the old gas (drained into cans, not on the ground). After putting the plug drain plug back in and adding a some gas, the plug now weeps a little. I tried tightening it more, but it still weeps.
How is the drain supposed to seal? There was no sealant on the plug when I removed it, so I didn't want to put any on it. Do I just tighten it till it seals?

    Thanks

    Default tank drain

Mine was just the opposite, when I pulled the plug it was covered in gas residue a quarter inch thick, once I cleaned it up it seal up fine. It did have a lot of gunk in the threads both in the tank and the plug itself, a wire brush help a lot. A little locktite wouldn't hurt.

Anti-sieze should work to seal it.

There is a product called "Gasoila" that is basically a pipe-dope product, but is OK to use with gas, diesel, etc. I borrowed my can from work, not sure where you can buy it retail, but I know it works.

    Default Teflon

I used teflon pipe thread tape. Use the pink or yellow for fuel, not the white which is for water.
