I had the same problem with mine when I first got my truck. It was all gumped up inside from lack of use. My father took it apart ,since I was only 8 years old at the time, and cleaned and greased it, and it has worked great for the past 22 years. Has yours always been jammed or is it a new problem? I have a manual for the winch that shows all the parts and assembly. I could send you a copy if you like.

yeah as far as i know it has always been jammed....i'd love a copy of that manual.

If it's anything like the deuce winch it will have kind of a simple throw out fork design like in a clutch. I had a deuce winch that was frozen up like that.

I'll look for the winch manual, it is boxed up in the basement from our last move, so it may take me a couple of days to locate it. As soon as I get my hands on it, I'll send a copy of it to you.
