In one of the brake threads Don or Dan or one of the other gurus said something about the material used in the bore lining of the OEM cylinders...? Something like that. They were also talking about relining the cylinders so I might have misunderstood.
I remember the cups felt awful light when I took one apart. I was expecting a little chunk of steel and it felt like some cheesy pot metal.
I'd done a boatload of brake work over the years and never seen wheel cylinders as bad as what I've seen on my truck and posted on this site.
Yes, mine looked just like that too when I pulled them off.
I cleaned them up and had them bored and lined with stainless steel sleeves by a local place here in Washington state. I think its either that or a dot5 silicone fluid conversion - or maybe both that should keep your wheel cylinders looking and working like new.

I used replacement wheel cylinders from carquist had to long gate the bolt holes a little.
