    I know it's a bit off topic, but for those running 12 Volt systems, there is a GREAT swap that's direct bolt-on for SBC's and the like.

    Take a look around for a large case CS-144. These are typically found on taxis, cop cars, and other "service vehicles". There are two models the smaller case (5-1/8") and a large case (5-5/8"). The larger case is a 140Amp output and can be had at most any parts store for less than $100 for a new/rebuilt model.
    The Advance Autoparts number I used was P811243 from a 1995 Chevy Impalla SS.

    One other point: the parts store CS-144 is not a 1-wire setup, but you can get the pigtails for them (either a 2 or three wire) and they are super simple to setup. You can typically find these adapters in parts stores for under $10.
