    Default Hard Fuel Line Size?

Welp, it's fuel tank this week on the list of things to complete.
As you all know I swapped in the SBC and am using the stock refurbed fuel tank. I have the original fuel line but it's pretty cruddy looking and I can see rust inside the line when viewed with a flashlight. While it's still in kit form I plan on just replacing the line with new stuff but my question is what size line should I run? The stock is 1/4" but is that large enough to feed the bigger engine, at the same time I don't want to possibly drown the engine either. Maybe 3/8ths?
I know some of you smarter than me guys out there will know. Thanks for posting up in advance, oh yeah, should I run a second fuel filter somewhere in-line before the engine mounted fuel filter?

I had an old Chevy truck that had 1/4" fuel line stock with the 250CI 6 and when I swapped in my BB Chevy 396, I didn't change it. It never gave me a problem. I ran an electric fuel pump too.

If I were going to change it anyway, I'd go ahead and do a 5/16" or 3/8" just cause'. You won't drown it. The needle in the carb cuts off the fuel supply when the carb is full, so that's sort of self regulating, unless you have too much fuel pump pressure.

If I recall I ran 5/16" fuel line. I also have a glass or clear filter mounted so I can easily view it from looking under the gas filler tube. There will be of course one mounted before the carbuerator as well. I bent up my own fuel lines. It was pretty easy, not much there.

In my CJ I have a glass filter in the engine compartment too, just ahead of the main filter. It acts as sort of a pre-filter and lets me see how cruddy things are looking before things have a chance to get too bad. Comes with a replaceable screen. The only thing I'm not too keen on is that it's glass. Glass breaks. That's why I can't bring my lemonade to the pool at a hotel.

Yep, 5/16 or 3/8 will work fine. If you come across high prices for "fuel line" metal, just buy the same size brake tubing and cut the ends off or go ahead and use the ends to attach barbed nipples at each end.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
