The 420 or 465 are good trans, but I wanted the OD gear so I found one of the trans and the adapters needed. There is a good chance that the specific adapters needed came on the 427td. I will have to post pics when I get home as I can't access them at work(firewall). All 3 trannys have been in BIG trucks and should live fine in the 7. Just in case you were wondering, the deuce trans is basicly bolt in with the right bell.

I have a TH400 automatic installed in mine now. I just like my automatics. It went in nicely and the only thing I had to really deal with was making a bracket for the transfer case shifters and e brake lever.

    Works like a dream though!

I don't have a bellhousing or flywheel yet. Could you tell me what bellhousing clutch and flywheel I need to work with the deuce trans and the 427TD? The more I think about it the I like your idea of the od specially with the stock gearing in the axles. Any one have a deuce od trans, bellhousing for sale?

Be ready for sticker shock when you go to get the throw out bearing and the pilot bearing. I think the best Pistolnut or myself have found so far for his swap is $125 for both. Unless somebody knows of a source in the reasonable $50 total range?
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
