    So, just don't put the seal joints at the same place as the block "joint'? Offset it a bit? Or rotate it a bit?

    Your explanation is just fine – I just happen to come across the illustration and posted it for a visual reference.

    Didn't post the source link because it is for another engine and might have conflicted with your well-described method of removal and installation above.

    OK, much better now. My limited experience was with the seal on the crank shaft but now I see why there are 5 pieces to the 715 kit. Any oil pan gaskets out there?
