Thread: Fuel filler neck

The original filler neck lasted 40 years without leaking I really don't see why my new one won't last another 40 years. God willing, I will be around long enough to change it out at that time.

When I bought my truck in 95, the filler hose dripped heavily on fill up. I put a new one on and had to replace it in 2003 due to cracks that were starting to drip already.

I don know how an original one could last 40 years in the cold/hot/cold we have.

Mine is original as well. I have a spare sitting in a bag on a shelf in my shop just incase.

My original had OD on it and was cracked so badly that even had it not leaked, which I doubt, I still would have replaced it. Mine also gets a constant bath of gasoline now, because the return for the fuel injection utilizes the old vent line and dumps back down the filler neck.

Got one from Memphis also. Have not installed it yet but it matches up fine. Will be dropping the tank for repairs, new sender and filler in the next week or so. Not looking forward to that project!!

looking to drop my tank as well, want to clean it up and repaint.
Will check the filler neck at same time, has cracks in it but does not seem to leak, probably will fall apart as I try and disconnect from tank.
Where can you get a new sending unit? My gauge works very erratically

    Default Sender

Many sources for the sending unit. Mine came from Bill Harbaugh but Saturn Surplus also has them. They are a generic military unit that is adjustable for tank depth.
