    Default Data plate restoration

Well I got my data plates back. I took the originals off since they where in horrid condition and I repainted the backing plate then sent it off to Rod Sarver at Military Vehicle Data Plates to have it redone. He stamped the seriel plate then installed thm all with the correct brass rivits.

Sharp! I need to send mine off and do the same. What a difference.

Another idea that may have been less expensive for the diy people. Order the data plaques from Rapco. Paint and install yourself. Looks just like mine will look soon. Nice pics.

I am pretty sure that there IS a Rapco plate. Notice the minimum octane number on the second line of the second plate. The original reads "86" and the new one reads "68." That's the same typo I have on my Rapco plates.

Nice brass rivets too! You know the base plates were screwed to the dash with four small Phillips head screws, right? You mentioned needing brass screws. Not sure if you meant for that. I believe they were just painted screws is all. Though I agree brass ones would look really sharp!

So you have a winch on the truck now too?

Good eye Binford those are Rapco dataplates. I bought a new gauge plate and it has large brass screws that hold it in place and I thought the brass screws on the data plate would look sharp and it does.
As far as the winch goes it had a winch when I got it from Kwai, can't say at what point it got added but it has one so I got the plates to match.

Ron added the rosponsable agency plates without me even asking. They where not in the Rapco kit and its on there now.

I'd never seen the Responsible Agency plate before. Pretty cool. Sure fills the data plate base, doesn't it?!

That's the spot where I intended to put Binford's NFE plate.
I wonder why the M715 series vehicles did not have the RA plates installed?

I also wonder why Rapco didn't make the replacement plates identical to stock? There are a few other items that make them look aftermarket or non-original.
