    Default Rebuild parking brake lever

    Anybody done that?
    Can it be done?

Mine won't stay engaged, thinking the spring in the handle is sprung? And I'm tired of tossing my good 3lb hammer under the front tire to get out and open/close the shop door.
Any way to replace that spring?
There IS a spring in there, isn't there?

I think there must be, but I haven't had to work on mine. Parts manual doesn't help either. Looks like you get to be the first!

    LOL, YAY!

I'm in no hurry, may put it off till spring. Think on it for a while. It's ready for inclement weather and I don't wanna start taking things apart.
Right now all the solutions I think of involve cutting the handle in two and welding it back together... so maybe thinking on it would be prudent.

I ended up getting an NOS handle to replace my old one.

    While inspecting the old one...
The bolt that was used as a pin for the little pawl/hook thingy that's on the bottom end of the button was a bit loose. I think it was loose enough to stop it from engaging correctly.
I found a bolt with a 3/8 shoulder (perfect fit), cut it down for use as a pin and drilled a hole in it for a cotter pin.

The spring in the new handle is stronger. A lot. My carpal tunnel gets any worse I might have to put the old handle back on.
