Thread: Brake line diameter??

    Default Brake line diameter??

Thanks for any answers! Installing a hydroboost system for the brakes.
Replacing all the steel lines, however what diameter should be used, or does it even matter? Do I use the line diameter for the hydroboost from the vehicle it came out of? Or for the brake system it is for (Chevy parts).

I know the smaller diameter will give more psi (theortically) and the bigger will give more volume, wondering about heat build up, psi volume to the pistons etc...

    Thanks,
    Dave

In a semi-static system as a brake line, line diameter will have no effect on pressure. If you have drum brakes, you need a bit higher flow rate, so I would use 1/4" lines, rather than 3/16".
