Thread: Steering shaft u-joint type anyone use?

Default Steering shaft u-joint type anyone use?

I read the other post on power steering from a full-size jeep and I had already pigeon holed a 74 j-truck box, pitman arm and steering shaft. I got the box mounted and noticed the rag joint box side was different (smaller on the stock box). What I want to know is I have the whole shaft from the J-truck and was wondering if anyone had replaced the stock shaft with the tulip with one from a full size with the u-joint. I have had those tulips fail before and the u-joint shaft I have is still in good shape and it's colapsable so length shouldn't be too much of an issue (holding in there it looks like it would fit anyhow).

So did anyone use the shaft or are the splines different on the steering column too?

Nevermind i took the tulip off and the shaft is made different not a splined stub...
