Thread: Replacing stock axles

    Default Replacing stock axles

Hey guys. I have a set of axles from a J20 3/4 ton jeep pickup. D60 rear/D44 front
Would it be worth the time to swap these into an M715?
The reason I'm looking into this is 1) I have the axles allready 2) cheaper than D60/14B
I don't plan on useing this truck as a heavy offroader or hauler. Its just going to be a backup truck.

    Thanks

Wouldn't know why not. Despite some of the over-engineering I see around here the fact is for most of my life I've watched guys offroad half and 3/4 ton Chevy's and Jeeps (and even Fords) with insane lift and 38"s or larger with little or no other mods and seldom break a thing. I doubt I'll wind up with anything much heavier in mine if I ever get to do the job and I won't be scared of it.

A Dana 44 is a pretty strong axle and as long as you keep the tire size reasonable and the skinny pedal usage the same, no reason why it wouldn't work. The stock front 60 in the 715 is about the same strength as a Dana 44 anyway.
