    Default Recovery Shackles

How strong are the stock recovery shackles compared to modern threaded ones on the market today? Can the stock ones be safely used with kinetic rope?

Well, they were made to lift the truck. I know there's no jerking or popping involved in that (or shouldn't be...) But they're pretty sturdy.

I've used mine for recovery several times. Once in an excessively unsafe and violent manner. That was using one of the rear shackles on the stock mount. I was more worried about the welds in the frame or the 3/8 bolts on the shackle mount... Or the other guy's recovery hook or the chain...
That was before I had a winch... Desperate times...

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I think those are 7/16th bolts and I plan on replacing mine with grade 8 bolts.

Yeah, that's right 7/16. When I built my front bumper I put two of the shackle mounts on it and upgraded the bolts to the next size up. Couldn't remember if I started or ended with 7/16.
