    Default Transmission problem

I have transmission grease coming out the input shaft end into the clutch housing, the case is low with grease bolts and end housing are sealed. I put a breather on the top plate but no luck. Does anyone know what my problem might be? I’ve had it out three times.

Welcome to the Zone first off.

I don’t want to sound insulting. But, are you sure it is gear oil and not engine oil leaking into the bell housing area? I ask that because I think this is the first time in over 20 years of reading about these trucks that this problem has shown up.

To me that means either a cracked metal part on your transmission or input housing. Or, the rear main seal of the engine is leaking like most of them do.

Yep it’s gear oil, nothing is cracked or leaking it’s coming from the input shaft housing, guess I will pull it back out again and open the transmission up and see if I put something in the wrong way when I went through it, it sounds and runs down the road fine. Thanks for input!

It's possible that the tranny has been overfilled. Not easy to do, but check the fill hole with the vehicle level.

When I filled it I left it a quarter inch low, still had the problem.
