    Default 5.9 cummins in M715

Hi guys I just got a 1968 M715. I bought a 1992 dodge W350 with a 5.9 cummins, 5 speed, 205 transfercase, dana 60 front and dana 80 rear axle. Swapped out the front axle this week end and put the springs under the frame. I want to run the clutch fan that's on the engine. Has anyone here cut and moved the fire wall back to do this swap ? Would like to know how it worked. Any help or some picture would be great. Thanks...

You can do it without cutting the firewall. Moving the radiator forward just a bit gives clearance.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    6.2 powered M715, 5 M1009's, M416, 2 M101's, 2 M105's, 3 M35's, M1007 6.5 turbo Suburban project called Cowdog.

    Yup... no need...

But in all honest I removed my mechanical fan.

I'll utilize an electric pusher... the 5.9 runs so cool... and being an in an environment (Wisconsin) there isn't a real high cooling need.

Most times simply the thermostat opening is enough to cool the motor back down unless being worked VERY hard.

You being in Colorado i would assume is very similar.

I putting the intercooler in front of the radiator. Did not want to stick a electric fan out front.

It looks like you will have to push your radiator forward to get a fan behind the radiator. Gearshift tower will center up in existing hole and place engine as far back as possible and You will probably have to tighten up the exhaust out of the turbo.

I swapped out the downpipe for an aftermarket and had no clearance issues... A few guys have run mechanical fans without ANY firewall modifications.

I cut and moved the fire wall indentation back about 3 inches along with the transmission floor board cover. Yes the exhaust pipe is going be close to the fire wall. Mounting the power brake booster now. Looks like the master cylinder is going to be in the way of the intake piping.

Hmmm I had no issue here with zero firewall mods....
