Eric timothy wrote this at least 20 years ago and had researched it with the best info at the time including interviews with a couple of the Jeep people who worked specifically on this project...I would say it is definitive...

Thanks for that link Brut4c. Scrolling down, an article states that the military paid $9000 for each unit and civilian M715 were available (who knew) and listed by a dealer in Fullerton CA for $4495.
As a funny side note, the article (Dated Nov. 1973) also states that the "Tornado" has enough torque to "pull the hide off a bull elephant". haha
