Military LED light source for Hummers

    Got this in my email:

    Quote:
Just thought I would let you know that there is finally a supplier that is making all LED Lamps for the HMMWV as well as the HUMMER H1 that actually function without having to add other incandescent lights in line.

We are currently preparing a retrofit kit that will change the Composite (Front Park Turn and Rear Stop Tail Turn) as well as the Front LED Blackout Drive Lamp. A kit will consist of enough lamps to completely retrofit a HMMWV.

As well as a retrofit Kit that will change an H1 completely over to LED's. This Kit will consist of LED Front Park Turn Lamps, LED Box Lamps for STT & Clearance Lamps.

One last thought - these lamps will be available in Desert Tan, Military Green, Black & Military Brown, without having to paint them.

I dont know exactly how I got on their email list...obviously due to the site...but I have never contacted them...the person who sent the mail is listed as "Manager - Military Products".

Sounds like it might be a nice way to get a whole trucks worth of lights for when someone is doing a whole change over...we use pretty much what the Hummers do....different size and shape of course....they probably have extras on the side we dont though...

that would be a neat kit, but prepare for toxic wallet shock syndrome.

Grote makes some nice turn signal levers too.

I'd be really interested if they're not super expensive.

They are a little pricy (grote) - they're used to the big-rig market where everything is 300% markup.

It depends on what it is. I know Grote also makes the perfect reflectors for the 715, just mask and add OD. They were pretty cheap through the local parts store. Of course since LEDs are the current new thing, they will be expensive just based on that, but with so many other outlets to purchase from, I'd steer clear of the truck stops since they are the ones who charge the outrageous prices.
