Hello everyone! I have enjoyed lurking on these forums for a while now, but now I'll enjoy it even more. Yesterday at noon, I won a public auction for a 69 in awesome shape. It has been in fire service in the FD that I'm a call member at since it was taken out of military service, and has always been maintained and garaged. For the last three or four years it has been sitting in covered, dry storage (the old fire station), and when we pulled it out it just needed the points cleaned and a jump start, and it started right up!

Here's a picture from when it was in service. Since then the tank, radios, and water/gas cans, axes, etc., have been removed, but other than that it's as you see it:

Town hall is processing the paperwork, and I should have it at home either later this week or early next week. I'll take pictures more pictures then and post them here.

So psyched to finally own one! And in basically drivable shape, too! Just needs a battery, and I should keep an eye on the tires...

Plans are to replace the battery, register it, and use it! Eventually I want to upgrade the brakes and steering, maybe a spring-over and tires, and eventually I'd love to do a diesel swap, but since that'll all take money, it won't be a priority.

Congrat's, it sounds like it's a well preserved one. Will be good to get some miles on it.

Apparently my images didn't post... I'll try again.

    Default mileage

Forgot to mention: 17,548 miles on the odometer.

I'll get some pics of the serial number and such later this week, and take a closer look at the canvas top, which I believe is in good shape, but it's under a tarp just in case.

Congratulations, man! Is there a paint job in the plans as well?

You mentioned "battery." I take it this has been converted to 12V then? Is it stock otherwise?

    Looks great!

    NICE!!

I like the fact that they left the siren on the hood! Does it still work??

Looks like the fender extensions have some sort of metal overlay? ...diamond plate?

    Welcome to "the Zone"!
