    200 ebrake housing on np202
Post by fisherman on Oct 14, 2006, 11:15am

Someone posted this was a bolt on conversion, Maybe on theirs, but not on mine. What i found was the rear output or bearing cover from the 202 was removed and I put the 200 ebrake housing on, not enough room for bearing clearance. The bolt patterns are the same, but bearings are different. My 200 uses cone shaped roller bearings on the rear that look like they set into a race. The rear output on the 202 uses a larger roller type bearing that sits into the rear opening in the transfer case and has a clip around it to hold it there. This sticks out by 3/16", therefore the 200 brake housing will not go on without modifications. I was going to try to chock up the 200 housing and turn in a lathe to step down inside for the bearing clearance. I decided to make a spacer out of 3/16" flat stock instead. I used washers and mocked it up last night and it appears I have just enough left to get the nut on the shaft and insert cotter pin. A fellow member made me an adapter setup for the centered rear output of our 200. That and the ebrake setup will be installed on my 202, then on to new bearings and seals. I will post some pictures as soon as I finish the spacer, that is today's project. Just for you to know there are two ways that I can see to make this work. Incase anyone else wants to run a 202 divorced case. I found this one in a 1970 International 1100. Any one need a good running 345? Fisherman

Anyone know if there are any differences between the 202 and the 205 transfer cases, other than looks, ratio? The 202 looks pretty similiar to the 200.

The NP200 and NP205 are pretty much rated the same...though the NP205 is the newer better version of the NP200....the NP202 is rated higher than either of the others...it is physically bigger by a bit as well...and it is rarer...
