Thread: Need a new t-98.

  1. #1

    Default Need a new t-98.

I need to source a new T98. It can either be in good condition or rebuilt. I can travel to the states of PA, DE, MD, or in NJ.
Since I have your attention and your reading this- I have a couple of questions also:
Can you swap in a t18 with little or no modification?
Where to find a t18, if this can be done.
Is there a site that sells these new or rebuilt- not for 1300$+?
What is the best way to have them shipped?

Thanks for all your help in advance. This site is great.

Novak's sells a pretty comprehensive rebuild kit for T98's. Novak-adapt.com

    Default Rebuild

I actually purchased this kit. But according to my mechanic, my 1st and reverse are almost gone. Those don’t come in the kit, and both together will cost more than a slightly used transmission. Novak does sell a t18 for 13k, but I’m trying not to head down that road, yet.

I have a T98 for sale. See for sale section. Am willing to ship but it is a bit pricey (around $250)

Will early T18 innards fit in the T98? I know this has come up before but don't remember what's interchangable.
I know the early T18s used the T98 casting, the one I pulled from a 71 Ford is like that.

Ray, wanted to thank you again, for the t98. It was a pleasure meeting you, the wife and the dogs. I am seriously impressed with all the work you are doing on your vehicle.

    Ray,
Just wanted you to know: cracked the transmission open befor install. It is almost pristine inside. Little wear on the first gear, but other than that it is fantastic. Thanks again.
