    Radiator in the bed ??
    Post by elohim1 on Nov 1, 2006, 6:36pm

I am considering putting a Radiator with electric fans (4600CFM) in the bed.
With the BBC and long water pump for the serpentine system , I only have about 5" of gap where radiator and electric fans go.

I need to have about 8" to mount the radiator and fans flexelite suggested to use.

So its cut up the front grill section to fit radiator (about a 3" inset , if even possible) or put the Rad. in the bed.

    What you guys think?

put the rad in stock location and install pusher fans in front of it then put a rhino grill from a old jeep pickup in to hide fans.

I like Bob's idea, well maybe something other than the rhino grill.

crap, no pics yet...let me take some tomorrow...
I used steel framing members ( 2x4 replacements) to make a mount, even made it wide enough for a 31 x 19 radiator..moved the radiator forward 3" or so to clear the Flexilite fans on the serp belt setup

I've got a 454 and a tilt front- I fit a stock Ron Davis dual pass rad. with two puller fans- fabbed a custom mount. Pass. fan motor misses alt. by about 1/4 inch. Works great though. Gimme your e-mail and I'll sent pix if it helps. Won't be till next week though, I'm headed to Mex this weekend

If this is still a mud truck, I would DEFINITELY put the radiator in the bed.

I have a 396 BB in mine wth the big Summit aluminum radiator. I had to put in a 2" spacer to move the fan close enough to the radiator to actually do any good. Granted, I have the short water pump, but it will fit. You might want to move the engine back some. I can fit my fist between the HEI and the firewall, so mine isn't back far at all.
